More than 200 attendees from the maritime industry, including 70 representatives of shipowning companies, took part in the 2010 7th annual Green Ship Technology conference in Copenhagen.

Highlights of Green Ship Technology 2010

  • 4 TECHNICAL STREAMS - delegates benefited from separate streams on design efficiency, operational efficiency, discharges to sea and environmental management.
  • A FOCUS ON The ‘Green Ship of the Future’ Project. Members of the Danish project ‘Green Ship of the Future’ demonstrated the thinking behind this far-reaching research and development project.
  • 2 BREAKFAST BRIEFINGS - both briefings were full to capacity, and brought attendees updates on recent research on two crucial aspects of green ship technology: kite assisted propulsion and shoreside power.
  • The 2010 Conference gala dinner and Awards ceremony, at the unique Restaurant Teaterkaelderen venue in Copenhagen.  Guests enjoyed good company, food, wine and also the entertainment provided by the singing waiters!  The Green Ship Technology Awards 2010 were awarded to Ecospec for Green Technology of the Year, and to Samsung Heavy Industries and Remontowa Shipyard jointly for their Green Ships of the Year.
  • SPEEDY BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE - participants found this an excellent way to meet fellow attendees.
  • QUICKFIRE TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE - eight technology providers took the opportunity to present their technologies in 2 minutes each to convince our audience and the 2 industry judges of their technologies’ USPs.  The winner was the MEWIS Duct from Becker Marine Systems, and the experience was described as 'great fun' by all the participants.
  • PERFORMANCE MONITORING WORKSHOP - Thursday 18th March 2010 – the post -conference workshop developed presentations and discussion for understanding the challenges and benefits of performance monitoring, which is likely to grow in importance in the coming years.

Authors of approved papers will be required to provide a full technical paper prior to the event as a criteria of acceptance.
