Dr Duncan Emerton
Dr Duncan Emerton Principal Consultant Datamonitor Healthcare, UK

Duncan is a Principal Consultant within Datamonitor Healthcare’s Consulting practice. He and his team provide bespoke solutions to the biopharma industry in areas such as new product development, brand optimization, forecasting, business development and licensing. Duncan’s current area of specialism is biosimilars, where he is currently providing commercially-focused advisory services to clients seeking to understand the risks (and potential rewards!) associated with this rapidly evolving sector. Before joining Datamonitor in 2004, Duncan worked for Pfizer. At Pfizer, his primary focus was Pfizer’s endocrinology portfolio, where he was involved with clinical development, sales and marketing activities for Genotropin (somatropin) and Somavert (pegvisomant). Before joining Pfizer, Duncan spent several years in various clinical development roles, focused mainly on clinical project management. Companies that Duncan worked for during this time included Sanofi-Synthélabo, Merck & Co., Pharmacia, and Cytos Biotechnology. Duncan holds a BSc(Hons) in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Surrey, and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Kent, Canterbury.


Dr. Malcolm Ross

Dr. Ross has over 30 years experience in the Generics Industry, the last 15 being at corporate level.


He has been intimately involved in strategic planning, pipeline management and related activities. His early industrial experience with Teva and Taro were directed primarily to the US markets but later as President of IPR, a company jointly owned by PAR and Merck Generics followed by R&D director for Polpharma, his role expanded to include development for the European markets.


Technically Malcolm specializes in development, both of formulations and analytical methodologies and holds a number of patents for novel formulations. He has set up R&D departments from scratch and has been responsible for upgrading existing units to European standards. Experienced in GMP and QA issues Malcolm has carried out many audits worldwide, both for API and Finished dosage forms.


In 2006 Malcolm moved to Basel and established Generapharm, a training and consultancy company.


Brian Tempest
Brian Tempest Chairman Hale & Tempest Co Ltd, UK

Dr Brian Tempest advises Companies, Banks, Investment Funds, Private Equity & High Net Worth Individuals on  their Strategy in Asia based on his wide experience in China, Japan, South East Asia and India where he lived for the last decade and continues to have a home.


Brian is currently Independent Chairman of Religare Capital Markets which is responsible for the global banking business outside of India for Religare, the leading Indian Bank.


Brian has previously been President, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Mentor, Executive Vice Chairman and Non Executive Director of Ranbaxy Laboratories during the 14 years between 1995 and 2008.  He is one of the few westerners to have led a Sensex Nifty 50 Indian blue Chip MNC and as a result has a valuable insight into India. Brian has also been Regional Director- Far East and Regional Director- Middle East & Africa for Glaxo.


Brian has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for the last 39 years and has led Healthcare businesses in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and India. Brian has also led many sessions at Investor Meetings held around the World.  He is now an international advisor to MAPE the Indian M&A boutique, GO-VIN Holdings- Singapore and the JM Financial India Private Equity Fund-India. In addition he is a member of the SCRIP Global Awards Panel and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Generic Medicines. Brian has a PhD from Lancaster University and is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal Society of Chemistry.  He is now Chairman of Hale & Tempest Co Ltd
