Speakers' Helpdesk for IBC Legal Conferences

What should I do if I am speaking at the event?

If you are a speaker, chairperson or panellist you will be kept updated on the programme by the conference producer Jana Schmolmann. You will also receive a speaker welcome pack of detailed information and the speaker’s checklist by the logistics manager who will introduce herself/himself to you in due course prior to the event.

If you are a solo or plenary speaker and providing a presentation, your session will involve preparing a PowerPoint presentation for inclusion in the event documentation. This is distributed to all delegates attending the course and to those who purchase the documentation later.

We would recommend to provide a PowerPoint presentation with slides that are not too detailed.

We ask that you submit an electronic copy of your presentation/bullet points/copy of slides within the deadline to ensure its inclusion inside the event documentation. The deadline will be send to you along with the speakers’ checklist and all other relevant information by the logistics manager.

Speakers are able to submit additional relevant materials (white papers, articles etc) to be hosted online or published in the document pack subject to agreement with the conference producer.

N.B. Even if you plan to speak off the cuff, we would urge that you submit at least an outline of your speech to us for inclusion in the event documentation pack. The most consistent complaint that we have from delegates is that not all speakers offer copies of their presentation in advance so it can be included in the event documentation packs.

If you are a chairman, or stream chairman, you are responsible for introducing the speakers in your session, from biographies that we will have provided you. We would urge you to keep to time and encourage questions from the audience from the start.

If you are a moderator of a panel, you will be contacted by the conference producer prior to the event to discuss the structure of the debate and identify the issues addressed during the panel discussion.

If you are a panellist, whilst you do not need to submit any documentation there may be opportunity for you to provide two or three slides for inclusion inside the documentation pack. Prior to the event you will be contacted by the conference producer to discuss the structure of the debate and identify the issues addressed during the panel discussion.

If you require accommodation, then please check the speaker’s checklist which will be sent to you by the conference manager well in advance.

What should I do if I want to join the speaker panel?
Please check the individual conference page and contact the relevant person (email or telephone the conference producer).
