Harmonising ergonomics, new technologies and data management in control rooms

The Control Rooms Conference is the only pan-European industry focused event for CR professionals.

The conference examined the latest in design, operation and management of control rooms. It promoted discussion and interactive learning between different industries, addressing operational concerns, design trends, human factors and the effects of cost constraints.

Attendees found out how to:

  • Optimise operational performance through incorporating human factors into the design process
  • Rationalise systems for better data management and easy data access
  • Increase SCADA security to reduce the threat of cyber attack
  • Harness new technologies to improve data visualisation and information management

Plus: Hot topic breakout sessions

Delegates discussed with the experts: reducing human error in the safety critical industry, whether control rooms in the emergency services should be consolidated, trends of future CR design, and how can we be more energy efficient?

Emergency response workshop: 26th September 2011

The smooth day-to-day running of your control room is important but are you fully prepared for the event of an emergency or serious incident?

Four practical sessions focusing on preparing for the unexpected covered:

  • How prepared are you for an emergency? Disaster and emergency recovery procedures
  • Case studies on recent disasters and the impact on CR operations
  • Role play scenario and de-brief on transformations which occur in a control room, examining the Civil Contingencies Act, police support and the operator's role
  • Debate on how lessons learned can be applied to CR design, safety and management

Workshop leaders included: Greater Manchester Police, Link Associates, Fraunhofer Institute

See the programme for the Emergency Response Workshop here.
