Practical solutions for reducing emissions to air from ships

The debate on shipping’s contribution to worldwide air emissions continues to be high on the agenda of international and national regulatory bodies.   Shipping faces decisions that could have a long-term impact on the way the industry operates.

This new seminar programme will focus on the key areas of concern to shipowners and operators today:

  • impending targets for reductions in SOx, NOx and particulate matter
  • the ongoing debate on greenhouse gas emissions from shipping and how these should be managed
  • developments from MEPC62 on EEDI, SEEMP, and market-based instruments will be debated in depth
  • the methodology for calculating EEDI, its strengths and weaknesses, and application in practice 
  • assessments of the compliance challenges for operating in ECAs will highlight where shipping can make the necessary changes to operating procedures.
