Many advertisers used to rely on their own websites as a place that they could advertise without the full force of regulatory scrutiny. The ASA has now had jurisdiction over companies’ own websites for more than a year, and the Chief Executive of the ASA will be giving an overview of the impact of the first year.
As online and mobile advertising become an ever greater part of the marketing mix, the challenges of the Data Protection Directive are becoming increasingly threatening, particularly as there seems to be no general agreement between the regulators and trade bodies about what is required to achieve compliance when using cookies. A representative from the Information Commissioner’s Office will be on hand to give the official view.
